The JAMY Practices
A Little History

In 2021 two very dear friends and mentors left behind their earth skins. Cree Elder Grandma Amy Eustergurling Wuttanee Eagle Tail Feather, Manchus S’Kwao Earthworm Woman who mentored and shared her knowledge of Medicine Wheel teachings, and my Beloved Chi Kung Teacher Jan Zickler aka Janah-La.
Grandma Amy always spoke about how we need to start with the children, they are eager to learn and they are the future.
Janah-La underscored the importance of energy management practices, and how to live more comfortably and clearer in our own skins, with less suffering and more vitality, especially during these challenging times.
Having had the torch passed on to me by both these women, along with their encouragement to continue with these teachings, I wondered how to be true to their teachings and also how to integrate this knowledge into my own practices.
A few months after Grandma Amy died, the last of these two amazing women to cross over, I was deep in meditation reflecting on the direction of my work I had been doing with Chi Kung classes and guided meditations I was teaching and facilitating, and my relationship with the earth based indigenous principles embedded in the Medicine Wheel teachings.

In the middle of my meditation I received a message to produce a series of interactive videos. These videos would contain elements of the teachings received from both of these teachers. The name ‘ JAMY Practice “, a combination of the names of my two teachers, popped into my mind. I actually laughed with delight at the name thinking of how much fun we could have imagining everyone showing up for Jamy Practice in Jammies.
The JAMY Practices that evolved as a result are intended to create greater ease and cultivate joy. While directed towards children and families, they are of benefit for everyone, and for that child inside all of us.
These interactive practices are simple to follow with no special equipment needed, no special clothing, and as the name implies, you could even show up in your Jammies.
An extra sprinkling of magic in the story of the Jamy Practice is how these two teachers arrived in my life independent of each other and then it turned out that these two women had been good friends for many years, participating together in drumming circles and other events at the Aboriginal Friendship Center in Vancouver.
